A fire outbreak has occurred at Eleme Refinery in Rivers State.
Newsone Nigeria reports that there was a fire outbreak at Eleme Refinery, also known as the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) in Rivers State, south-south Nigeria on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
This online news platform understands that the Eleme Refinery fire outbreak started when the company’s staff members were introducing new crude into the tunnel, a staff member of the company told Nigerian Info. The staff added that the situation is now under control.
There was a minor fire outbreak at the Port Harcourt Refinery complex.

Confirming the development, the National Spokesman of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), Joseph Obele, said the fire at Eleme Refinery lasted for ten minutes and has been put off.

Eleme Refinery, also known as the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), is a key oil refinery complex located in Alesa-Eleme, near Port Harcourt in Rivers State, Nigeria, comprising two operational units with a combined capacity of 210,000 barrels per day (bpd).
Meanwhile, Newsone reports that this is coming a day after President Bola Tinubu suspended Governor Sim Fubara and declared a state of emergency in Rivers State.
