Appeal Court Delivers Judgement On Dino Melaye’s Appeal

Appeal Court has delivered judgement on Dino Melaye’s appeal.

NewsOne Nigeria reports that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, has dismissed the appeal filed by Dino Melaye, challenging the victory of Senator Smart Adeyemi as the winner of Kogi West Senatorial District election.

This online news medium understands that a three-man panel of justices of the Appeal Court on Tuesday unanimously resolved all seven issues, identified for determination, against Melaye (the appellant).

Appeal Court dashes Dino Melaye’s hope

The panel of justices upheld the judgment delivered by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which sat in Abuja on June 10, 2020, which affirmed the declaration of Adeyemi as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The appeal court, which struck out Adeyemi’s preliminary objection, awarded N50, 000 cost against Melaye and in favour of the respondents.
