5 New Cases Of Coronavirus In Nigeria Confirmed
Coronavirus in Nigeria has taken a new twist with the Federal Ministry of Health announcing five new cases of Coronavirus in the West African country.
NewsOne Nigeria reports that the federal government has announced five new cases of coronavirus disease in the country, in addition to the existing three cases.
This burgeoning online news platform understands that with the development, Nigeria now has eight confirmed cases of the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, in an ongoing press conference in Abuja, the nation’s capital, on the update of the disease in the country, said all the new five cases had a travel history to the from the United Kingdom, UK and the United States of America, USA.
“We urge Nigerians to remain calm as public health response activities are intensified across the country,” the Minister of Health said.
Updating Nigerians on the development, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) tweeted: “@Fmohnigeria has announced 5 new cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria bringing the total number confirmed cases in Nigeria to 8. All 5 cases had a travel history to the UK/USA.
“We urge Nigerians to remain calm as public health response activities are intensified across the country.”

In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari‘s “Next Level” administration has imposed travel restriction on countries with over 1,000 cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
This burgeoning online news platform reports that this was disclosed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha during a press briefing on Wednesday, March 18.
“These are all countries with over 1,000 case domestically,” the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha said in a press briefing on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, NewsOne Nigeria reports that the development is coming after the Federal Ministry of Health on Friday morning, February 28, confirmed the first case of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.
Nigeria’s minister of health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, confirmed the case in a statement issued in the early hours of Friday, February 28, 2020, saying that the case involves an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and just returned from Milan, Italy on the 25th of February 2020.
