Asisat Oshoala, Super Falcons and Barcelona star, has been named the 2019 Africa Women’s Player of the Year for the fourth time.

YaahooJournalist reports that Oshoala was announced the winner of the award for the fourth time category at the CAF Awards 2019 which took place in Egypt on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.

This online news platform understands that the Nigeria international and Barcelona star beat off competition from Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa and Ajara Nchout of Cameroon.

Oshoala grabbed Africa’s best player award after a year in Barcelona where she joined first on loan before signing a permanent contract.

The Super Falcons forward’s competitors for the award were Gabrielle Onguene and Ajara Nchout of Cameroon, South African star Thembi Kgatlana and Tabitha Chawinga of Malawi.

Winning the award today means Oshoala has now won the CAF African Women’s Player Of The Year for the fourth time, equaling the record for the most wins held by Perpetua Nkwocha, a Nigerian legend.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mane won the 2019 African Men’s Player of the Year for the first time in his career.
