BREAKING: APC Chairman Dies in United States, Cause of Death

Court has nullified Akwa Ibom APC Governorship Primary.

Newsone reports that a Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, has annulled the governorship primary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) held in the State on May 26, 2022.

This online news platform understands that a former aide to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang, in suit number FHC/UY/144/2022, had gone to court claiming the Akwa Ibom APC Governorship Primary was characterised by several illegalities.

In one of his claims, Enang said that Akan Udofia was not a member of the APC in the State at the time the Akwa Ibom APC Governorship Primary Election was conducted in the south-south state.

However, Newsone Nigeria reports that Udofia argued that the APC had given him a waiver that qualified him to contest the Akwa Ibom APC Governorship Primary.

Justice Agatha Okeke in a judgment on Monday, November 14, 2022, cancelled the Akwa Ibom APC Governorship Primary and ordered the party to conduct another primary within two weeks.

The Federal judge also dismissed the purported waiver granted Udofia and ordered the party to conduct another primary in a fortnight when authentic governorship flag bearer of APC in the State will emerge.

Justice Okeke also ordered that Udofia, who claimed to have won the aborted primary election of APC in the State, should not participate in the fresh party primary.

Reacting to the judgment on the Akwa Ibom APC Governorship Primary Election, Udofia assured his supporters that he will be on the ballot for the 2023 Akwa Ibom Governorship Election.
