BREAKING: Finally, INEC Declares Winner of Adamawa Governorship Election 2023

Winner of Adamawa Governorship Election 2023 has been declared by INEC.

Newsone reports that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has officially declared Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the 2023 Adamawa State Governorship election.

This online news platform understands that the declaration of Fintiri as the Winner of Adamawa Governorship Election 2023 means that he is returning for a second term in office as the Governor of Adamawa State, northeast Nigeria.

As announced by Professor Mohammed Mele the state Returning Officer, Fintiri who is the incumbent governor of the state scored a total of 430, 861 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Aisha Binani who got 396,788.

Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba has ordered that the Commissioner of Police on election duty in Adamawa State, Mohammed Barde withdraw from the state with immediate effect.

This online news platform understands that the IGP also ordered that the Commissioner of Police in charge of Gombe State, CP Etim Equa immediately proceed to Adamawa State for election security of the yet-to-be-concluded supplementary governorship poll.

Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, while addressing journalists in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, said the IGP is committed to a free and fair process.

He said, “The IGP has given directive that the commissioner of police on election security in Adamawa State, CP Barde should pull out of Adamawa State and the Commissioner of Police in charge of Gombe State, CP Etim Equa to proceed to Adamawa immediately, to go and supervise election and provide necessary information and ensure that the process is a success.”

Adejobi also said the IGP has yet to receive any letter from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) seeking the probe and prosecution of its embattled Resident Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa, Hudu Yunusa Ari.
