Lagos Labour Party Leaders Dump Gbadebo, Endorse Sanwo-Olu

Lagos Labour Party Leaders have dumped Gbadebo and endorsed Sanwo-Olu for a second term as governor.

Newsone reports that leaders of the Lagos Chapter of the Labour Party (LP), have endorsed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term in office as the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city.

This online news platform understands that the endorsement of Governor Sanwo-Olu by the Lagos Labour Party Leaders took place on Thursday, March 16, 2023, during a meeting held in the Surulere Local Government area of the state.

The endorsement by the Lagos Labour Party Leaders led by the former governorship aspirant, Moshood Salvador, is coming as a result of the degeneration of the Lagos Chapter of the party’s internal crisis.

Giving reason for their decision, the Lagos Labour Party Leaders said they endorsed Governor Sanwo-Olu because of the ill-treatment they received from Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.

The young Gbadebo is the Lagos Labour Party Governorship Candidate hoping to unseat Governor Sanwo-Olu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as the governor of Lagos State, a post-Sanwo-Olu has held for four years.

Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that the endorsement is coming three days before the governorship and state assembly elections in Nigeria.  On March 8, 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, postponed the governorship and state assembly elections till March 18.
