Many Feared Dead As Explosion Rocks Karu Bridge in Abuja [Video]

An explosion has rocked Karu Bridge in Abuja.

Newsone Nigeria reports that a massive explosion rocked the Karu bridge at the Nyanya area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Wednesday evening, March 19, 2025, after a gas tanker burst into flames, and engulfed several vehicles.

It was gathered that at least seven bodies have been recovered so far, while emergency responders continue rescue operations.

Witnesses said the truck lost control around the Karu bridge, an area between Kugbo and Nyanya on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway. They said some cars were trapped in the incident with their occupants unable to escape.

Personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agencies were seen at the scene, working to contain the situation.

The explosion that rocked Karu Bridge in Abuja has caused severe gridlock along the axis, forcing many commuters to abandon their vehicles.
