Shiites Invade National Assembly, ‘Two Shot Dead’ (Video)

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, on Tuesday, invaded the National Assembly complex premises, resulting in an exchange with security operatives.

Yaahoo Journalist learned that the Shiites members in their numbers broke down the first gate and proceeded to the second, which serves as the main entrance to the complex in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

This online news platform gathered that the IMN members clashed with security operatives on the ground, who repelled the protest with gunshots fired into the air to disperse the protesters.

A report by The Nation says the protesters reportedly shot at least two security operatives at the National Assembly complex.

Another report by TheCable, says Shiites are currently burning some vehicles parked close to the gate while more security operatives are being deployed to the scene.

Yaahoo Journalist learned that the protest led to the closure of all gates to the National Assembly premises.

The Shiites members, Yaahoo Journalist understands, are protesting the continued detention of their leader, Ibrahim Elzakzaky.
