Nicholas Ukachukwu has defeated Valentine Ozigbo to emerge as the Anambra APC candidate.
Newsone Nigeria reports that Nicholas Ukachukwu has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Anambra governorship election.
This online news platform understands that Nicholas Ukachukwu won the APC governorship primary election on Saturday, April 5, 2025, defeating his closest challenger, Valentine Ozigbo, in the contest.
While Nicholas polled one thousand, four hundred and fifty-five (1,455) votes, Valentine, who defected from the Labour Party a few weeks before the APC Primary election in Anambra, could only garner a mere sixty-seven (67) votes.
Speaking after he was declared the winner of the APC primary election in Anambra State, Ukachukwu vowed to deliver the state to the ruling APC.
He said, “We shall deliver Anambra to the APC. One thing I want to say here, nobody has won the governorship of Anambra without my support; it has never happened before.
“I have been playing godfatherism, but now I want to be the father of the father, no more godfather.”
Meanwhile, Newsone reports the Anambra State governorship election, which will take place in November 2025, will be the next major off-cycle election in Nigeria.
The governor of the state, Chukwuma Soludo, has already won the ticket of the state’s ruling party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
