Aisha Buhari, Nigeria’s First Lady, Secretary to the government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, and other top government officials, failed to deliver the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during the Local Government Election in Adamawa, northern Nigeria.

YaahooJournalist reports that the APC failed to secure a chairmanship seat in Adamawa despite the presence of Aisha, SGF, minister of Federal Capital of Territory (FCT) Musa Bello, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and former governor Sen. Muhammadu Umaru Bindow Jibrilla.

While the collation of results from local government areas concluded results released so far indicated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is the ruling party in the state, clinched virtually all the chairmanship seats amidst protest.

YaahooJournalist reports that prior to the Adamawa LG election, the APC North-East zone inaugurated a 39-member Central Steering Committee to reposition the party in the state with a view to winning the local polls.

Unfortunately, the efforts appeared to be a mirage as the APC was roundly defeated in Saturday’s local government elections, as major stakeholders of the party remained invisible as while the elections lasted.

Reacting to the outcome of the election, the APC described the Adamawa LG election as a complete sham.

The APC through its legal adviser Barr. Shagnah Pwamaddi described the election as a ‘’complete sham, undemocratic, and did not meet the minimum standard of an election.’’

Pwamaddi added that: ‘’ it was a misrepresentation of wishes of the people as it was largely compromised, the ruling PDP used security personnel to disrupt the election across the state as reported by-elections observers and party agents.’’

‘’In Lamurde alone, there were seven units that were disrupted by PDP agents in active connivance of security personnel.

‘’In some areas, elections materials didn’t arrive but results announced.

‘’Also in Numan 2, and 3, the state commissioner of agriculture came with security personnel and disrupt the process,’’ he opined.

The main opposition party in the state vowed that any attempt to temper with the wishes of the people will be resisted.

‘’We are collating our results and any attempt to short-change our results, the party and candidates will challenge it,’’ he said.
