Newsone reports that Nigerian Jollof Queen, Hilda Effiong Bassey popularly known as Hilda Baci, has beaten Chef Lata Tondon to create a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.

This online news platform recalls that Chef Lata Tondon of India was called the “Iron Lady” when she cooked for 87 hours and 45 minutes in 2019 surpassing the previous record by 20 hours.

However, Hilda Baci from Akwa Ibom State, who started cooking on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 4 pm, in an attempt to break the record set by Chef Lata, broke the record on Monday morning, May 15, 2023, when she clocked the 88-hour mark.

Though Chef Hilda Baci broke Chef Lara Tondon’s 87 hours, 45 minutes record in the morning, she continued cooking since she had already set sight on a personal record of 96 hours which she completed at 4 pm Nigerian time (16:00 GMT).

After meeting her target of 96 hours Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual”, Chef Hilda Baci added extra 4 hours to set a new record of  100 hours cooking marathon at the cook-a-thon competition, which took place at the Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city.
