1. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended the ongoing strike by another four weeks. ASUU president, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, disclosed the union’s decision in a press statement on Monday.

2. The police have mobilised to foil plans by terrorists to attack the southern part of the country sequel to the infiltration of the region by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists. As part of the strategies to prevent terrorists’ attacks, the police chiefs in Lagos met yesterday.

3. The lawmaker representing Bauchi North Senatorial District, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa, has disclosed that majority of members of the Senate, including those of the ruling party are in support of the move to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari, over the failure of his regime to address the growing insecurity in Nigeria.

4. The Federal Government on Monday said it was working to increase mortgages provided to contributors under the National Housing Fund to the tune of N712bn for the financing of about 100,000 housing units across the country. It disclosed this at the inaugural Board and Management Retreat of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria in Abuja, adding that efforts were on to deliver one million affordable homes to Nigerians under the National Housing Programme.

5. Bandits on Sunday attacked Joro Manu village in the Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, killing three people and abducting six others. No fewer than seven persons were also killed in the Jos South LGA of Plateau State by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.

6. Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have abducted and thrown some of their victims off a bridge to a drainage channel. It was gathered that the incident happened at Alor, in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday.

7. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammad Bello, yesterday, reopened the popular Millennium Park after two years of closure due to COVID-19. He said almost 95 percent of the parks in Abuja had totally derailed from the FCTA park policy.

8. The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it will on Wednesday meet with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, vice presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State over the current crisis rocking the party. The BoT’s Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin said this in a statement yesterday.

9. Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State and the former Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, met and reunited at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, on Monday. This is the first time that both men would be seen together since Ganduje dethroned Sanusi in 2020.

10. The Federal Government of Nigeria on Monday debunked reports that it removed subsidies from the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol. Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.
