1. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday 15th April 2023, for supplementary elections in Kebbi and Adamawa States. Mr Rotimi Lawrence Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this in Abuja on Monday.

2. There was tension in the Ngor Okpala area of Imo State on Monday as gunmen killed three personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Our correspondent gathered that the incident took place at Ekeisu market in Obiangwu Community, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of the state.

3. The abducted wife of the traditional ruler of Bukpe in Kwali Area Council of the FCT, Mrs Sadiya Hassan Shandozhi, and her son, Osama Hassan Shandozhi, have regained their freedom after being held captive for seven weeks by their abductors.

4. Deposit Money Banks are set to raise their cash withdrawal limits from the current N20,000-N50,000 range to over N80,000-N100,000, according to multiple bank officials. The move, it was learnt, would help bank branches to tackle lingering queues in some cities across the country.

5. No fewer than 1,000 aged women from across the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State on Monday held a protest in Lafia, the state capital, seeking a review of the recently conducted governorship election in the state. The women, who were dressed half-naked with leaves in their hands, sang emotional songs in Hausa language.

6. A woman, Annie Ofili, has allegedly stabbed her friend, Glory Okon, to death at her residence on the Greenville Estate, Badore, in the Ajah area of Lagos State. It was gathered that on the day of the incident, Okon paid Ofili a visit at home.

7. Scores of protesters under the aegis of The Natives took to the streets of the Federal Capital Territory on Monday to warn opposition parties and critics calling for an interim government not to truncate the nation’s democracy. According to them, no mandate was stolen during the presidential election.

8. The governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, on Monday, appealed to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, to prevail on the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over its planned protest slated for Wednesday.

9. A high court sitting in Makurdi has granted an ex-parte order stopping Dr. Iyorchia Ayu from parading himself as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Justice Wilfred Kpochi, who granted the order, directed that Ayu restrains himself from acting as the national chairman of the party pending the hearing and determination of Motion on Notice already filed.

10. Former British Prime Minister, Mr. Boris Johnson, yesterday, said Nigeria can be a renewable superpower. Johnson, who spoke at the 16th Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe lecture series in Lagos, on Monday, called for a stronger “mutually-benefitting relationship” between Nigeria and the United Kingdom in order to unleash the potentials of both countries.
