Senator Obi is dead.

NewsOne Nigeria reports that a lawyer and life bencher, Senator Onyeabo Chukwunedum Obi is dead.

This online news platform understands that Senator Obi’s death was announced by his younger brother and Bar Leader, Mr. Zik Obi II.

He wrote: “Good morning All, Pending a formal announcement from the family later today, I wish to personally inform members of Otu Oka Iwu that my eldest brother and past President of Otu Oka Iwu and Bencher, Senator Onyeabo Obi, Os’oji Nnewi, passed on to greater glory yesterday at the age of 82 years. We are grateful to God for his life.
“Kindly note that due to the current COVID-19 safety protocols, physical condolence visits are not necessary or encouraged. Thank you so much.

“Best regards, Zik Obi,” the message reads.

Before his death, Senator Obi was an international business lawyer of Council (and Vice; Advisory Committee on Rules of the Supreme Court of Nigeria (by appointment of Honorary Chief Justice) since 1986.

Senator Obi was born on November 20, 1938 in Ogidi. Son of Chief Z.C. Obi. He went to London School of Economics, London University.

He was Director Nigerian Rubber Board 1977-1979 and Senator of Federation Republic of Nigeria 1979-1983.

The late lawyer was also the Chairman Committee on Procedures for Settling Disputes), Section on Business Law, Institute Bar Association since 1986.

Senator Obi Married Evelyn Nnenna Obioha in 1967 and loves playing lawn tennis.
