Smart Adeyemi Remains My Political Wife – Dino Melaye
Senator Dino Melaye, the lawmaker who represented Kogi West at the Nigerian Senate, has again addressed Smart Adeyemi, his opponent at the just concluded Kogi west senatorial election rerun as his “political wife.”
YaahooJourmalist reports that the former Kogi West lawmaker made this comment on the micro-blogging site on Sunday, December 1.
Senator Melaye made this comment in reaction to Adeyemi’s victory at the polls.
YaahooJourmalist recalls that Adeyemi, who contested the Kogi West senatorial election on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated Melaye, a candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to emerge the winner of the Kogi West election.
This online news platform understands that Adeyemi was declared the winner of the Kogi west senatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The returning officer of the election, Olayinde Lawal, declared Adeyemi winner of the election at the end of the rerun on Saturday, November 30.
According to the INEC returning officer, Adeyemi polled 88,373 votes to defeat his closest challenger and candidate of the PDP, Dino Melaye who got 62,133 votes.
Reacting to Adeyemi’s victory, Melaye tweeted: “The reaction of men and women of goodwill all over Nigeria especially the wonderful people of Kogi west who truly voted for me is a testimony that God is with me and with us all. I won the election and Adeyemi remain my political wife. Thank you Nigerians. Victory is certain,” Melaye tweeted.
