1. The Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Doyin Okupe, has been sentenced to two and half years for breaching the Money Laundering Act. This online news platform understands that Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, on Monday, December 19, 2022, found Doyin Okupe, a former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Senior Special Adviser (SSA), guilty of receiving over N200 million cash from former National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki.

2. A 23-year-old female security guard, Gabriella Hutchinson, has lost her life following the injuries she sustained from the stampede at the music concert hosted by singer Asake in Brixton Academy, United Kingdom. A report monitored on Daily Mail UK by News One Nigeria says that the victim, who was working as a contracted security provider at the concert, Gabriella Hutchinson died on Monday at the hospital four days after the incident on Thursday night.

3. An area court in Bukuru, Jos South LGA of Plateau State has sentenced Gabriel Orupou (alias Alaye) to two years imprisonment and or N100,000 fine for destroying a billboard belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Orupou, a resident of Dadin Kowa, was found guilty of criminal conspiracy.

Military airstrikes aimed at neutralizing bandits had mistakenly killed 11 soldiers and seven villagers with two soldiers and over 70 villagers sustaining various degrees of injuries in Malele and Mutungi communities of Zamfara State. According to an eye witness, Nuhu Dansadau, the bandits had on Saturday invaded Malele community of Dansadau Emirate in Maru Local Government Area, with the youths in the village putting up resistance.

A coalition of Civil Society Organisations has raised alarm alleging that plots are afoot to frame the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Governor, Godwin Emefiele by the Department of State Services (DSS). Speaking at a press conference on Monday in Abuja, the group operating under the auspices of Coalition of National Interest Defenders, comprising Human rights lawyers, Chairmen of political parties, Civil Society groups, Arewa Youth Consultative Movement and ethnic leaders said the allegation was weighty and too sensitive to be swept under the carpet.
