1. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has pegged the hajj fare for each intending pilgrim for 2023 at N2.89m. The Chairman of NAHCON, Zikrullah Hassan, made the disclosure on Friday, attributing the increment to inflation in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.

2. Igbo Lawyers Association (ILA) has condemned allegations by the federal government that Mr Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 elections, has committed a treasonable offence, in demanding justice for being robbed of victory. The group said it will summon an urgent meeting to discuss the matter.

3. Gunmen on Thursday killed a yet-to-be-identified Assistant Superintendent of Police along Ikorodu-Ijebu-Ode Road, in the Imota, Ikorodu area of Lagos State. It was gathered that after perpetrating the crime, the suspects carted away two rifles, as the deceased policeman’s colleagues scampered to safety.

4. A suspected kidnapper on Thursday lost his life during a gun duel with policemen in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. During the shootout, the policemen also rescued two abducted victims abandoned by the kidnappers at their hideouts in the area.

5. Playwright, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has described Obidients as some of the most repulsive, off-putting concoctions he ever encountered in any political arena. Obidients is a term describing supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who contested the February 25 presidential election. The elder statesman spoke in a statement on Friday.

6. The Department of State Services has kept mum over the arrest and detention of the founder, RIG Nation and Pioneer Church, United Kingdom, Tomi Arayomi, and his wife, Tema, by its operatives at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport on Friday. Although the reason behind their arrest was unclear, impeccable sources said Arayomi was arrested for making “prophecies that are deemed to be inciting.”

7. The 36 states chairmen of the Labour Party have said the crisis currently rocking the party’s leadership was not about the embattled National Chairman, Julius Abure but a ploy to frustrate its presidential candidate, Peter Obi from emerging victorious at the presidential election tribunal.

8. Bandits have abducted at least 100 persons from farmlands in Zamfara and Katsina States. It was gathered that the armed gang raided Wanzamai, a community on Zamfara-Katsina border.

9. Residents of Aponrin in Agbowo area of Ibadan are now on the trail of a pastor who allegedly absconded with 52 android and iphones, money and other valuables after a three-day crusade. The pastor was said to have told his victims that he was led by God to come to Ibadan from Gambia for the crusade.

10. Former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Professor Onje Gye-Wado, has been kidnapped. It was gathered that gunmen stormed his community, Gwagi, in Wamba Local Government Area of the state, and abducted him.
