Tribunal Sacks APC Federal Lawmaker, Orders Rerun

Dahiru Abubakar, representing Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency at the National Assembly on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has been sacked by the tribunal.

YaahooJournalist reports that the National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which sat in Lafia, ordered rerun election across seven electoral wards of Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency, over illegal cancellation of results.

The chairman of Panel 2 of the tribunal, Justice Weli Chechey, gave the order while delivering judgment yesterday on the petition filed by Haruna Kigbu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) in the February 23 general election challenging the victory of APC’s Abubakar.

Justice Chechey said in his ruling that the cancellation of the results in 24 polling units of Agyaragu Tofa Electoral Ward of Lafia Local Government Area (LGA) by the LGA collation officer was illegal.
