Newsone Nigeria reports that Nigeria’s nominee for the office of the director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has emerged winner of the highly competitive race.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, was chosen as the final candidate for the much-coveted role after the former Nigerian Minister of Finance polled 104 votes from 164 member countries to defeat her South Korea’s trade chief, Yoo Myung-hee,  at the final stage of the race.

Newsone Nigeria understands that Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has broken many records, including becoming the first African to occupy win that office at the WTO.
