Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has met with the Board of Trustees (BoT) members of the opposition party over the ruling of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT).

YaahooJournalist recalls that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) dismissed the petition of the PDP and its presidential candidate last Wednesday.

The main opposition party and Atiku had challenged the declaration of President Buhari as the winner of the February 23, 2019, presidential election.

Justice Mohammed Garba, who led the five-man panel, said while delivering a judgment that: “This petition is accordingly, and hereby dismissed in its entirety.

“In the final result, and I have come to the conclusion which is inevitable and unavoidable, that the petitioners have not proved any of the grounds of the petition in paragraph 15 of the petition.

“This petition is accordingly and hereby dismissed in its entirety.”

However, after the ruling, BoT chairman and secretary, Senators Walid Jibrin and Adolphus Wabara, led a few other members of the board to the UAE where they met with Atiku in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and discussed Nigeria’s politics and the judiciary.

On Wednesday, Senator Jibrin told Daily Trust that leaders of the BoT met with Atiku in Dubai where they spent a few days and returned to Nigeria, adding that the trip was successful.

Meanwhile, a source, who is a member of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), said the worry by some people over the BoT’s meeting with Atiku in Dubai was unnecessary.
