1. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State yesterday, accused 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and party allies of lying against him in Atiku’s comments on the outcome of the 30th May party primary election. He said all Atiku’s assertions about him during his recent interview were lies.

2. Less than 48 hours to the end of the voters’ registration exercise, Nigerians, in their numbers trooped to registration centres across the country, yesterday, to get listed for the highly prized Permanent Voters’ Card, PVC. Many, however, departed the centres over the inability to get registered.

3. Level 2 House has emerged the winner of this week’s wager presentation in the BBNaija S7 “Level Up” house. The feisty and interesting battle between both houses was held on Friday night.

4. The Coalition of 52 Northern Groups (CNG), on Friday, rejected the call by the United Nations (UN) for the unconditional release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. They also accused the UN of bias in its disposition towards certain regions of the country.

5. Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday stormed Wuse Zone 4, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the base of many Bureau De Change operators in Abuja following the continuous devaluation of Naira. It was learned that the operation was carried out to dislodge currency speculators who were alleged to be massively mopping up available foreign currencies.

6. Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), yesterday, told Nigerians not to vote for any ticket that is not mixed between Christians and Muslims during the 2023 elections. Lawal said the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be resisted with prayers and the Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).

7. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has approved a shake-up in the Nigerian Army amid the rising wave of insecurity in the country. Speaking at the end of a security meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, Col Babagana Monguno (retd), National Security Adviser, said the country was in a “very difficult situation”.

8. Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum yesterday, expressed fears that dwindling resources and poverty, if not tackled, may force some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to join Boko Haram and its splinter group–the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters.

9. Thugs on Friday disrupted the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Ijesha, Surulere area of Lagos State. They carted away the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Continuous Voter Registration machines.

10. Opposition against the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress deepened on Friday as popular Christian members of the party vowed to mobilise voters against it in 2023. Some northern Christian leaders in the APC on Friday called on Nigerians to reject any ticket that was not mixed between Christians and Muslims during the 2023 elections.
