Nnamdi Kanu Predicts More Attacks On Jonathan, Reveals Ex-President’s ‘Greatest Mistake’
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, says the “greatest mistake” made by former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, was the removal of Lt Gen Azubike Ihejirika, the Chief of Army Staff during his administration.
YaahooJournalist reports that Kanu, a secessionist who is on exile, made this statement during his recent live broadcast on Radio Biafra.
The IPOB leader alleged during the broadcast that the North formed Boko Haram insurgents to fight former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Jonathan during their respective administrations.
Kanu stressed that Obasanjo summoned the courage to deal with the leadership of Boko Haram before Jonathan assumed power but that the Bayelsa born politician was deceived into removing Ihejirika when he had the opportunity of dealing with the insurgents.
The IPOB leader alleged that the North put pressure on Jonathan to remove Ihejirika when the North saw that Ihejirika was mercilessly dealing with the Boko Haram insurgents whom he (Kanu) described as “their creation.”
Kanu lamented that Jonathan succumbed to the pressure from the North and “today, the terrorists have taken the fight against Jonathan to his village in Otueke, Bayelsa State.”
Speaking further, the IPOB leader predicted that the former President will receive more attacks in the coming days.
“This is just the beginning. Many more attacks will come for him irrespective of Buhari’s assurance to him that there is no cause for alarm. That attack was their advanced party,” Kanu added.
“The terrorists are in Army and Police uniforms, they are doing this in order to retain power and remain relevant,” the IPOB leader said.
Meanwhile, Kanu’s statement is coming days after Jonathan’s residence in his home town was attacked by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
