Hope Uzodinma Makes First Appointments As Imo Governor (Full List)
The newly sworn-in governor of Imo state, southeast Nigeria, Hope Uzodinma, has announced his first appointments as Imo governor.
YaahooJournalist reports that Governor Uzodinma made his first appointments on Thursday, January 16, barely 24-hours after taking over the Imo State government from Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who was sacked by the Supreme court.
Uzodinma was handed his Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Wednesday, January 15.
The former Senator was then sworn-in barely 24 hours after the Supreme court sacked Ihedioha who was initially declared the winner of the March 9 governorship election in Imo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
On Thursday, Uzodinma announced new Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Attorney, General, Chief of Staff and Chief Press Secretary for his administration.
Hope Uzodinma Appointments
YaahooJournalist reports that Chief Cosmas Iwu was appointed as the SSG of the State while Barrister COC Akaolisa steps in as the Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice.
Others are Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie who was appointed as Chief of Staff and Oguike Nwachukwu who takes the position of the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, CPS.
Meanwhile, YaahooJournalist had reported earlier the Supreme court sacked Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo state and affirmed Uzodinma as the winner of the March 9 governorship election.
A seven-man panel of justices in a unanimous decision on Tuesday held that Ihedioha did not win the majority of votes cast in the election.
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who read the judgment, ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Ihedioha and give a fresh one to his APC rival.
“The votes due to the appellant, Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress (APC) from 388 polling units were wrongly excluded from scores ascribed to them,” Justice Kekere-Ekun ruled.
