Seadogs on Monday, October 17, 2022, joined the UN to mark the “International Day for the Eradication of Poverty”.

Newsone reports that the “International Day for the Eradication of Poverty” is held annually on 17 October to provide an opportunity to acknowledge the effort and struggle of people living in poverty;

In commemoration of the “International Day for the Eradication of Poverty 2022”, NAS, a non-political, non-religious, detribalised, international charity organisation whose aim is encapsulated in the words “Service to Humanity“, joined the rest of the world to preach “HELP THE NEEDY” at Global and national levels.

The Capoon of Mekados deck (Onitsha Chapter) of NAS International, Engr Emeka Uwaechia, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Ezennia Nonso Chukwudebe and sent to Newsone Nigeria, called for unalloyed assistance and a helping hand to the needy and the very poor in our society.

In the statement, NAS noted that “the current economic situation in the country is really worrisome, but we all must strive to give and support those whom we are much better off and families that cannot afford to eat well nor train their children for we see them every day and should not act as though it’s not our business.”

“Let us, therefore, join hands to upflift someone in need around us and seek out ways to impact them with the kinds of skills guaranteed to accord them a self sustaining life when put to practice.

“On our part, we have in our own little way, tried to bring succour to the needy with the most recent act being a visit to the Bishop Crowther Memorial Camp of the internally displaced persons as a result of the devastating flood, where we distributed many relief items and also set up classes where our members take turns to teach the children three times every week.

“Let us try and feed a soul today, let’s try and put smiles on someone’s face and let’s lift up the downtrodden,” the statement in commemoration of the “International Day for the Eradication of Poverty 2022” read in part.

Earlier today, members of NAS Mekados deck, distributed flyers around the Onitsha Inland town axis to sensitize the public on the need to uphold the above-mentioned virtues.
