COVID-19 fight in Nigeria has received a major boost with the CBN releasing the full list of donors and the amount donated for Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Newsone Nigeria reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in a statement revealed that Nigeria has received the sum of N15,325 billion from concerned Nigerians and organizations as a support to combat the global pandemic, Coronavirus (COVID-19).

This burgeoning online news platform understands that the list released by the CBN and sighted by Newsone Nigeria shows that thirty-seven (37) individuals and corporate organisations have made donations to the fight against coronavirus in Nigeria.

The CBN Director of Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor, who made this known in a statement said all the donations were centred to the account set up under the Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID).

Okorafor said the money donated to the fight against the Coronavirus outbreak in Nigeria came from 37 donors which include individuals, banks and other corporate organisations.

His words: “A breakdown of the contributions showed that CBN and Aliko Dangote donated 2 Billion each.

“Abdul Samad Rabiu (Bua Sugar Refinery), Segun Agbaje (GTB); Tony Elumelu (UBA); Oba Otudeko (First Bank); Jim Ovia (Zenith Bank); Herbert Wigwe (Access Bank) and Femi Otedola of Amperion Power Distribution donated N1 Billion each to the relief fund.

“Pacific Holding Ltd, Union Bank Plc, Sterling Bank Plc, Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic IBTC, Citi Bank Nigeria Ltd, FCMB, Fidelity Bank, ECOBank, African Steel Mills and Multichoice Nigeria Limited also made donations.”

”Similarly, FSDH Merchant Bank, FBN Merchant Bank, Rand Merchant Bank, Coronation Merchant Bank, Sun Trust Bank, Providus Bank, Wema Bank, Unity Bank, Heritage Bank, Nova Merchant Bank, Polaris Bank and Keystone Bank donated.”

Okorafor added; “Others are Globus Bank, Titan Trust Bank, Takagro Chemicals Ltd, Ahmadu Mahmoud and Handy Capital Ltd make up the list of those that have so far made contributions to the Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) Relief Fund domiciled at the CBN,”

Showing appreciation to the donors, Okorafor said: “The coalition appreciated the list of good-spirited individuals and corporate bodies for hearkening to the clarion call championed by the CBN and the private sector.”

The CBN Director of Corporate Communications challenged some more concerned Nigerians and corporate firms to join the train by supporting the government to see the end of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
