Abba Kyari is dead, however, there are 10 things you may not have known about the late Chief of Staff.

NewsOne Nigeria had reported earlier that Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, died of COVID-19, four weeks after testing positive to the disease.

This burgeoning online news platform understands that the Presidency through a statement by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity said Kyari died on Friday, April 17 of the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19).

“The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19 and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.

“May God accept his soul. Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly,” Adesina had tweeted.

10 Things You May Not Know About Late Abba Kyari

1. Abba Kyari was from the Kanuri tribe in Borno State, northeast Nigeria.

2. Abba Kyari married one wife and had four children.

3. Abba Kyari graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Warwick and also received a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Cambridge.

4. Abba Kyari was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1983 after attending the Nigerian Law School.

5. Abba Kyari obtained a master’s degree in law from the University of Cambridge in the year 1984.

6. Abba Kyari worked for the law firm Fani-Kayode and Sowemimo for some time after his return to Nigeria.

7. Abba Kyari later attended the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland and participated in the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School, in 1992 and 1994, respectively.

8. Abba Kyari served as a Commissioner for Forestry and Animal Resources in Borno State, northern Nigeria in 1990.

9. Abba Kyari also functioned as the editor with the New Africa Holdings Limited Kaduna between 1988 – 1990.

10. Abba Kyari was appointed as the Chief of Staff to Nigeria’s President by current President Muhammadu Buhari in August 2015 during the “Change” and has held that position into the “Next Level” until he passed away on Friday.

Meanwhile, moments after the news of Abba Kyari’s death broke, Nigerians took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to react to the death of the President’s Chief of Staff.
