Action Peoples Party Secretariat in Rivers has been hit by an explosion.
Newsone Nigeria reports that the Action Peoples Party, APP, along the GRA axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, southern Nigeria, suffered a dynamite explosion on Monday, August 12, 2024.
This online news platform understands that the attack on the Action Peoples Party Secretariat in Rivers occurred in the early hours of Monday precisely around 1 am.
The assailants allegedly threw dynamites into the building housing the secretariat, destroying windows and doors, as well as other property of the party.
The development comes amidst speculations that the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, plans to move with his supporters to the APP.
Speaking on the attack on Rivers Action Peoples Party Secretariat, a party official who chose to remain anonymous said the incident was politically-motivated.
He said “Yes, I’m a member of the APP. I was informed of the attack at about 3 am today.
“This is politically-motivated and there is no two ways about it. They know that the APP is a fast-growing political party in the state. We call on the police to investigate this and arrest the culprits.”
However, The spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she was not yet aware of the explosion.
