Tems Wins Best African Music Performance At 67th Grammys [Video]
Tems has won the Best African Music Performance at the 67th Grammys.
Newsone Nigeria reports that Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer, Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, has won the Best African Music Performance category at the 2025 Grammys.
In a historic feat, Nigerian artists appear in all of the songs nominated in the second installment of the category which first installment was won by South African star Tyla for her hit single ‘Water’.
Tems secured the award with her song Love Me JeJe. This marks Tems’ second Grammy win. South Africa’s Tyla won the award for her hit Water in 2024 in the category’s first edition.
She beat Yemi Alade‘s ‘Tomorrow’, Asake ‘MMS’ featuring Wizkid, Chris Brown‘s ‘Sensational’ feat Davido & Lojay, and Burna Boy‘s ‘Higher’ for her second Grammy win.
Tems received three nominations at this year’s Grammys, bringing her career total to eight. She was also nominated for Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild) and Best R&B Song (Burning).
The 67th Grammy Awards occurred at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, United States on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

Meanwhile, Newsone reports that Tems rose to prominence after being featured on Wizkid’s 2020 single “Essence“, which peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart following the release of the remix version with Justin Bieber.
