Atiku’s 2023 running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, has dumped PDP for APC.
Newsone Nigeria reports that the former governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.
This online news platform understands that Okowa was the running mate to Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party.
The defection was announced by Senator James Manager on Wednesday in Asaba, Delta State capital shortly after a meeting at Government House, Asaba.
Santor Manager stated, “All PDP members in the state, including the governor, former Governor Okowa, the Speaker, the state party chairman, all the local government chairmen and others, have agreed to move to the APC. We cannot continue to be in a sinking boat.”
Before the announcement, Okowa said in his dialect, while addressing the people, that he would make the best decision.
“Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction. We will take the best direction, the best path for our people,” said the former governor in a viral video.
