Coronavirus: FG Speaks On Reopening Of Tertiary Institutions

Reopening of Tertiary Institutions is the good news students are waiting for.

NewsOne Nigeria reports that the  Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, gave updates on the plan to reopen tertiary institutions amid coronavirus in Nigeria.

While speaking at the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID in Abuja on Monday revealed that the government has met with groups pressurizing it to reopen universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

The Minister said coronavirus is still virulent, while mandatory guidelines haven’t been put in place by the institutions yet.

“We have reviewed responses from about 78 universities already, most of which are private universities who are insistent that they are ready to go.

“From the state-owned universities, we have a 50-50 response and we are working to upscale that and make sure that everybody is actually ready to go,” the Minister said.

The Minister, however, expressed optimism that the tertiary institutions would soon be reopened amid COVID-19 in Nigeria.
