CBN To Create Nigerian Bitcoin Says CBN Governor

Aisha has slammed FG and CBN over banning of cryptocurrency.

NewsOne Nigeria had reported earlier that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) directed banks to close accounts of persons or entities involved in cryptocurrency transactions within their systems.

This online news platform understands that the development was disclosed in a circular released to deposit money banks (DMBs), non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs), and other financial institutions (OFIs) on Friday, February 5, 2021.

“Further to earlier regulatory directives on the subject, the bank hereby wishes to remind regulated institutions that dealing in cryptocurrencies or facilitating payments for cryptocurrency exchanges is prohibited, ” the circular signed by Bello Hassan, director for banking supervision, and Musa Jimoh, director of the payment system management department, read.

Aisha tweeted: “In 2012, I realised the relationship between government & business. My business had been adversely affected by government policy. It dawned on me then that even when you mind your business and just focus on growing, government can destroy all you worked for with a policy.

“If ban dey work why dem no ban insurgency? Na people wey be law abiding dem see finish! Yeye dey smell!”
