NewsOne Nigeria reports that the United States claimed to have notified the Nigerian government on Wednesday, August 5 of an ongoing invasion by the deadly terrorist group, Al-Qaeda, through the North-Western region of the country.

Speaking on Wednesday, Dagvin Anderson, the Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command, Africa,  who disclosed the development during a press briefing, said the dreaded terrorist group is also expanding to other parts of West Africa.

The Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command in Africa revealed that the US government will continue to partner with Nigeria in sharing intelligence.

Anderson said, “We have engaged with Nigeria and continue to engage with them in intel sharing and in understanding what these violent extremists are doing, and that has been absolutely critical to their engagements up in the Borno State and into an emerging area of northwest Nigeria that we’re seeing al-Qaida starting to make some inroads in.”

The Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command in Africa reiterated that the US will not relent in sharing intelligence with the Nigerian government to ensure it has full knowledge of what the terrorist group is up to.
