Atiku Abubakar Tenders Fresh Request Before Buhari Govt

Atiku Abubakar, the 2019 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, has called on the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, to beef up security across border towns in Nigeria.

YaahooJournalist reports that Atiku, a former Nigerian Vice President, made the call while condemning the bomb attack in Gamboru, Borno State by suspected Boko Haram members.

YaahooJournalist gathered that the explosives were said to have been planted close to a bridge between Nigeria and Cameroon border.

A report by DAILY POST quoted traders to have said that the bomb exploded during routine security checks on people, who are coming out of the market.

An eyewitness, Alhaji Tahir Mamman, who spoke with the online news platform, said he cannot ascertain the number of casualties.

“Today is the market day. The bomb incident happened at 3 O’clock when the people were returning home.

“A lot of women and children have been killed. May God Almighty bring an end to our predicaments,” Tahir said.

Reacting to the attack in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, the former Vice President expressed sadness over the bomb attack, left about 30 people dead.

 “I am saddened by reports of the death of no fewer than 30 people in a bridge bomb attack in Gamboru, Borno State. May the souls of the deceased rest in peace and their families comforted.

“Security must be beefed up across border towns. -AA,” the former Presidential candidate wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.
