Atiku vs Buhari: President, APC Close Defence At Tribunal
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari, have closed their defence at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Yaahoo Journalist reports that the legal team of President Buhari led by Wole Olanipekun (SAN) and lead lawyer to the APC, Lateef Fagbemi announced the intentions to close their defence when they appeared before the tribunal on Thursday, August 1.
The President and the APC are the 2nd and 3rd respondents respectively in the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging their victory at the February 23 presidential election in Nigeria.
President Buhari called seven witnesses and tendered documents between Tuesday and Wednesday before closing his defence in the case
The President’s lawyer told the court that, having reviewed their case and evidence led so far, they were greatly assured they had done enough to earn a victory.
On the other hand, APC lawyer, also aligned with Olanipekun’s position, disclosing that the APC has also decided to close its case.
