IPOB’s Nnamdi Kanu is in fresh trouble over Biafra.
NewsOne Nigeria reports that some activists from the southeast have written a petition asking the United Kingdom to extradite Nnamdi Kanu to Nigeria for allegedly inciting violence in the country.
This online news platform understands that the group under the auspices of Igbo Youths in Nigeria and Diaspora, submitted the petition to British High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria, alleging that Kanu, who heads the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) is promoting a breakdown of law and order in the southeast region.
The activists in a video posted on YouTube on March 25, 2021, accused the IPOB leader of ordering his group, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) to attack police and military personnel in the southeastern part of the country.
Chukwuma Dike, a spokesperson for the group, said they decided to write the petition to the high commission because Kanu is a British citizen who is causing problems in Nigeria.
Dike said: ”We are calling on the British government to extradite Nnamdi Kanu, they should open a case, let him face justice. We are calling for justice, the death is enough.”
He accused the IPOB leader of being behind the killings and disappearances of former members of the group who were opposed to his violent tactics.
Dike said Kanu is turning the southeast region into a war zone, pointing out that about 16 youths belonging to the ESN were recently killed by soldiers in Abia state.
He stated that the military and the police were clamping down on innocent people in the region over crimes committed by the IPOB.
