The local currency opened at ₦747.00 per $1 at the parallel market otherwise known as the black market today Saturday, 7 January 2023, in Lagos Nigeria, after it closed at ₦743.00 per $1 on Friday, 6 January 2023.

Even though the dollar to naira opened in the parallel market at ₦747 per $1 today, News One reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognise the parallel market, otherwise known as the black market. The apex bank has therefore directed anyone who requires forex to approach their bank, insisting that the I&E window is the only known exchange.

Newsone Nigeria reports that in the black market, the players buy a dollar for ₦743 and sell for ₦747 on Saturday morning, January 7, 2023, after they bought ₦740 and sold for ₦745 on Friday, 6 January 2023.

Meanwhile, News One Nigeria reports that the USD started this week at ₦741 in Parallel Market also known as Black Market on Monday, January 2, 2023, in Lagos Nigeria, after it opened at ₦745 last week Monday, December 26, 2022.
