Bola Ahmed Tinubu And APC End Defence Against Peter Obi, Labour Party
Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC have ended their defence against Peter Obi and Labour Party.
Newsone reports that Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and the All Progressives Congress (APC), the nation’s ruling party concluded their defence on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in the petition by Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP) before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).
This online news platform understands that the counsel to Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Shettma, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) announced the closure of his clients’ case after their sole witness, Senate Majority Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele concluded his testimony.
Newsone Nigeria reports that Olanipekun also tendered 18 sets of documents, including LP’s membership register for Anambra State, which Bamidele confirmed did not contain Obi’s name, indicating that he was not a member of the party when he contested the last presidential election.
Lawyer to the APC, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) said, upon assessing the state of the case, his client is satisfied that it has sufficiently made its case and need not call any witness.
The APC counsel subsequently announced the closure of his client’s case.
