BREAKING: Abia Assembly Speaker Impeached, See Why

Abia Assembly Speaker impeached.

Newsone reports that the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Chinedum Orji, has been impeached by members of the House.

This online news platform understands that about eighteen (18) of the twenty-four (24) members of the Abia State Assembly signed for the Speaker’s impeachment Tuesday morning, May 2, 2023.

It was gathered that the motion for the impeachment was moved by Chukwudi Apugo of the Peoples Democratic Party, who represents Umuahia-East, and was seconded by Okey Igwe of the PDP, who is representing the Umunneochi constituency.

Four of the members including Ginger Onwusibe, Solomon Akpulonu, Munachim Alozie, and Kelechi Onuzuruike refused to sign.

Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria recalls that Orji, representing Umuahia Central State Constituency, lost his bid to represent the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal constituency in the February 25 National Assembly election.

The son of the former Governor Theodore Orji lost to the Labour Party candidate, Obi Aguocha.

However, operatives of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) have taken over the entrance gate of the Abia State House of Assembly at the time of filling this report.
