The Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has announced another petrol price reduction amidst the rise of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
Newsone Nigeria reports that the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Executive Secretary, Mr Abdulkadir Saidu, disclosed reduction of the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N123.50 per litre in a statement in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Tuesday night, March 31.
This burgeoning online news platform understands that the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency said the new petrol price takes effect from today, April 1, 2020.
According to him, “PPPRA, in line with the Government approval for a monthly review of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pump price, hereby announces Guiding PMS pump price of N123.50 per Litre.
“The Guiding price which becomes effective 1st April 2020, shall apply at all retail outlets nationwide for the month of April 2020.
“PPPRA and other relevant regulatory agencies shall continue to monitor compliance to extant regulations for a sustainable downstream petroleum sector. Members of the Public and all Oil Marketing Companies are to be guided accordingly,” he said.
Last month, the Federal Government decreased the pump price from a maximum band of N145 per litre to N125 per litre consequent upon the decline of the crude oil prices.
Meanwhile, the announcement of the new petrol pump price came on the day the number of coronavirus cases in Nigeria increased from 135 in numbers to 139. Nigeria recorded 4 new COVID-19 Cases, with Coronavirus in Nigeriarising to 139 cases.
Newsone Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the 4 new COVID-19 cases in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Tuesday evening, March 31.
This burgeoning online news understands that of the four coronavirus cases recorded by Nigeria and confirmed on Tuesday evening by the NCDC, three were detected in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital and one in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.
Newsone Nigeria reports that 4 new COVID-19 cases recorded by the NCDC, means that the number of cases of coronavirus in Nigeria has risen from one hundred and thirty-five (135) to one hundred and thirty-nine (139).
The NCDC tweeted: “Four new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 3 in the FCT and 1 in Lagos As at 08:00 pm 31st March there are 139 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Nine have been discharged with two deaths.
