Tyla has won GRAMMYs Best African Music Performance.
Newsone Nigeria reports that South African singer Tyla won the award for Best African Music Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
This online news platform understands that the South African singer and songwriter known for blending Pop, R&B, and Amapiano, often called the “Queen of Popiano“, beat off competition from Nigerian acts – David Adeleke, aka Davido; Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr.
Tyla clinched the 2026 Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance with her song, Push 2 Start, ahead of Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, as well as Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s Hope & Love.
The Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys, introduced to spotlight African music on the global stage, once again featured strong Nigerian representation, with three Nigerian artistes — Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr — making the final shortlist.
