Newsone Nigeria reports that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, the nation’s capital, has set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court I in Abuja, which ordered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to allow the participation of 381 ad-hoc delegates in the February 22, 2024, primary election.
This online news platform recalls that Asue Ighodalo emerged as the Edo PDP candidate for the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State at the Edo 2024 PDP Governorship Primary Election.
A three-member panel of the appellate court on Monday set aside the judgment of Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo delivered on July 4, because the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit of the aggrieved delegates in the first place.
Besides, the appellate court held that those who instituted the suit lacked the necessary legal standing to do so.
The Appeal Court ruled today that the Federal High Court cannot interfere with how the PDP selected its candidate for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, southern Nigeria.
