Asisat Oshoala made history on Thursday as the Super Falcons beat Australia at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Newsone reports that Barcelona Femeni forward Asisat Oshoala made history as the first Super Falcons player to score in three consecutive World Cups after netting in the side’s 3-2 victory against Australia on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
This online news platform understands that the Super Falcons of Nigeria have defeated co-hosts Australia 3-2 at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Super Falcons who went behind towards the end of the first half, recovered with goals from Uchenna Kanu, Osinachi Ohale, and Asisat Oshoala.
Oshoala was introduced in the 64th minute after passing a late fitness test. The Barcelona Femeni forward profited from a sloppy defending from the co-hosts to score the Super Falcons’ third goal in the thrilling encounter.
The 28-year-old scored her first World Cup goal for the Super Falcons in the 3-3 draw against Sweden at the 2015 edition hosted by Canada. Oshoala was also on target four years ago in the 2-0 draw against South Korea.
Speaking after the match, Oshola said: “I want to make sure I fight for my teammates, fight for this badge. This is the best county in the world”.
While the Australians scored a stoppage-time goal to set off a nervy finish, the Nigerian team held on for a famous win.
