Atiku Abubakar’s son has contracted the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

NewsOne Nigeria reports that Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria and 2019 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) disclosed this in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Sunday night, March 22.

The former presidential candidate said the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has been duly informed and that his son has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital for treatment and management.

Atiku tweeted: “My son has tested positive to coronavirus. @NCDCGov has been duly informed, and he has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management.

“I will appreciate it if you have him in your prayers. Stay safe, coronavirus is real,” the tweet read.

Meanwhile, NewsOne Nigeria reports that Atiku’s announcement is coming a few hours after the Federal Ministry of Health confirmed that Nigeria currently has thirty confirmed cases of the deadly coronavirus in the West African country.

NewsOne Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced three confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), increasing the total number to 30 in Nigeria.

This burgeoning online news platform understands that the three new cases announced by the NCDC were found in Lagos and two of them are returning travellers while one of them is a contact of a confirmed case.

The NCDC tweeted: “Three new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Lagos, Nigeria. 2 cases are returning travellers and 1 is a contact of a confirmed case.

“As at 05:28 pm on the 22nd of March, there are 30 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with no deaths,” the tweet added.
