BRT Bus has collided with a train in Lagos, leaving many feared dead.

Newsone reports that an unspecified number of people have been injured after a passenger train crushed a Lagos State Government staff bus in the PWD area of the state.

This online news platform understands that the BRT Bus and train incident happened around 7 am on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Several passengers are feared dead following the impact of the collision.

Confirming the incident, Newsone Nigeria reports that the spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Taofiq Adebayo, said a rescue operation was ongoing.

“The accident recorded many casualties as the bus is fully loaded with govt staff going to office this morning.”

Also, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Lagos has said that two bodies have been recovered from the incident involving a train and a Lagos State government passenger bus on Thursday morning.

Ibrahim Farinloye, a spokesperson for NEMA made this known in a chat with Channels Television on.

According to him, “Two female staff of the state government died in the accident.

“The state government staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail crossing while the train coming into Lagos from Abeokuta trapped the bus on its rail,” he said.

Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, it was not clear how the BRT Bus found its way to the train tracks.
