President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate implementation of the N30,000 new national minimum wage.

Yaahoo Journalist reports that the Chairman of the National Salaries, Income, and Wages Commission, Chief Richard Egbule, disclosed this while addressing a news conference on the implementation of the new national minimum wage earlier today, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

This online news platform understands that the immediate implementation of the N30,000 new national wage is for Federal Public Service workers currently earning below the minimum wage.

The statement reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari approves the immediate implementation of the N30,000 new national wage for Federal Public Service workers currently earning below the minimum wage.

“Chief Richard Egbule, Chairman of the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission disclosed the news while addressing a news conference on the implementation of the new national minimum wage earlier today, in Abuja.

“The commencement of the approved payment will be determined by the office of the Accountant-General and backdated to when the President signed the agreement.

“According to Chief Egbule, the approval takes effect from April 18, 2018, and will affect the salary of government agencies under five salary structures,” the statement added.
