BREAKING: Buhari Replaces Accountant General Suspended For N80bn Fraud

Accountant General suspended for N80bn fraud has been replaced by Buhari.

Newsone reports that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr. Anamekwe Chukwunyere Nwabuoku to oversee the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF).

This online news platform understands that Nwabuoku is to take over the position pending the outcome of the investigation of the suspended AGF, Ahmad Idris by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a Nigerian law enforcement agency that investigates financial crimes such as advance fee fraud and money laundering.

Newsone reports that the replacement of the suspended Accountant General and the appointment of Nwabuoku by President Buhari was confirmed in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter by the President’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad.

He wrote on Twitter, “Mr. Anamekwe Chukwunyere Nwabuoku has been appointed to oversee the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, pending the outcome of the EFCC investigation of the suspended AGF, Ahmad Idris.”

Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that Idris was last week suspended as Nigeria’s Accountant-General by the Minister of Finance, budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.

The Accountant General’s suspension came after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested him for allegedly diverting funds and laundering N80billion.
