Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Portugal defeated Spain to win the UEFA Nations League 2025 on Sunday.
Newsone Nigeria reports that Portugal picked up their second Nations League title after beating holders Spain 5-3 in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in the final at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s 138th international goal took the final to a shootout in Munich, before Spain forward Alvaro Morata’s miss proved costly and Ruben Neves struck the winning spot kick.
Ronaldo, Portugal’s 40-year-old skipper, has now won three international trophies for the country: two UEFA Nations League trophies (2019, 2025) and the European Championship in 2016.
He also played a role in Portugal’s result tonight, scoring the all-important equaliser in the second half, which forced the contest into extra time and eventually, penalties.
Meanwhile, Newsone reports that Portugal sealed their second UEFA Nations League title, having also won in 2019 during the tournament’s inaugural edition.
