BREAKING: Ex-Oyo Governor Abiola Ajimobi Is Dead

A former governor of Oyo State, southwest Nigeria, Abiola Ajimobi is dead.

NewsOne Nigeria reports that Abiola Ajimobi who had been on a life support machine since last Friday at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, after slipping into a coma following Coronavirus complications, finally died today, Thursday, June 25.

Confirming the news, Nigerian journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, said Abiola Ajimobi died at exactly 3:45 pm. Before his death, he governed Oyo State for years.

Miss Olunloyo tweeted: “#BREAKING: #RIP Governor Abiola Ajimobi. My second cousin, my father’s cousin, my grandmother’s nephew, my Governor of 8 years in Oyo state. #coronavirus is REAL! Thank you for your service sir, Thank you for the memories. HE LEFT US ~3:45 PM.”

Another journalist, Dele Momodu confirmed the development, tweeting: “Good night former GOVERNOR ABIOLA AJIMOBI of Oyo State. My sincere condolences to the family… RIP.”

Meanwhile, NewsOne Nigeria reports that Abiola Ajimobi died at aged 70 following Coronavirus complications.
