Newsone reports that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister and former Governor of Rivers State, Barrister Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, summoned an emergency security meeting amid the heightened insecurity currently bedeviling the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The former Rivers Governor said the government was working to support security agents with all that they need to tackle insecurity.
Among those in attendance are heads of security agencies in the FCT, top officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen as well as traditional rulers.
The FCT Minister warned the area council chairmen to be alive to their responsibility at the local level.
In the past few weeks, bandits have ravaged some parts of the FCT, abducting residents from their homes.
The incidents that have created tension became heightened when some residents, including a 13-year-old Secondary School student, were killed over failure to meet the deadline for a ransom payment.
